NATALIE (WALLING) COLLINS., age 81, a Weymouth resident for 60 years, died on Monday, Feb. 28th at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth after a long illness. Mrs. Collins was born, raised and educated in Hingham, graduating from Hingham High School. For 27 years, she was an assembler for Sigma Instruments in Braintree. She retired 17 years ago. Mrs. Collins was also an accomplished seamstress who made authentic uniforms for the 47th Regiment of Foot, a Revolutionary War re-enactment group located in Cohasset. Some of her historical uniform reproductions are on exhibition at The Queen's Lancashire Regimental Museum in Preston, England.
Wife of the late Almon L. Collins, she was the mother of seven sons; Leslie W. Collins of Rockland, Paul A. Collins and Laurence A. Collins both of Weymouth, Bruce D. Collins of Greenville, SC, Steven P. Collins of Scituate, the late George N. Collins and the late Richard F. Collins. She leaves her sisters, Ruth Foley of Pembroke, Pauline Walling and Bertha Walling both of Weymouth; and brothers, Ronald Walling of Boynton Beach, FL and Butch Walling of Rockland. She was also the sister of the late George Walling, the late Philip Walling, the late Richard Walling, the late Betty Walling, the late Irene Walling and the late Muriel Gottlich. Also survived by 27 grandchildren and 20 great grand-children.
A Funeral Service will be conducted on Friday, March 4th at 10:30 AM at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham.
Friends may visit at the Downing Chapel on Thursday evening from 5-8 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Joslin Diabetes Center, One Joslin Place, Boston, MA 02115.
The interment is to be private.
