Obituary

Albert F. Dean, 81, of Newton, who served in the British Royal Navy during WW II, died Sun Feb. 27, 2005 at the Chetwynde Health & Rehabilitation Center in West Newton.
Born in Liverpool, England he was in the Royal Navy during WW II serving in the Mediterranean, and North Africa, and also served on submarines. Following his discharge he served in the English Merchant Marines until his retirement. He was awarded an award for bravery from the Liverpool Shipwreck and Marine Society for bravery, after diving from a bridge to rescue someone who was drowning. He came to the U.S. in 1963 and settled in Newton and worked in engineering at the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital in Boston. He was a member of the Waltham Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth (Wilson) Dean, his children Keith Dean and his wife Karin of Hull, Susan Dean-Olson and her husband David of Wolfeboro NH, and Dr. James dean and his wife Craig of Union ME, his grandchildren Jason and Adam, his great grandchildren Elizabeth, Brooke and Jacob and his brother George Dean of Liverpool, England.
A funeral service will be held on Wed March 2 at 11:30 AM in the Eaton & Mackay Funeral Home 465 Centre St. Newton Corner. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Interment will follow at Newton Cemetery.
