Obituary

John J. Casey, of Bellingham died Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Mary R. (Joyce) Casey for 50 years.

Born in London, England, he was the son of the late Patrick and Hannah (Dwyer) Casey.

John grew up in England and was a resident of Bellingham for the past 45 years.

John proudly served in the Army and then went on to earn an Associate’s Degree in Architecture from Wentworth Institute.

Before his retirement, he was an owner operator long distance truck driver for Central Transport for many years and had formerly worked for Branch Motor Express.

John was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He loved boating, golf, metal detecting, was a phenomenal cook and was certified in scuba diving.

John was a devoted father and husband and also cherished time spent with his grandchildren.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Joyce Casey of Bellingham, Joan Casey and her husband Craig Belyea of Millis, Carol Boswell and her husband Pete of New Bedford, Sean Casey and his wife Danielle of Bellingham, Julie Casey Rogers and her husband Paul of Bellingham, James Casey and his wife Melissa of Seekonk and Elizabeth Cooper and her husband Chris of Bellingham.

He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, Ryan, Meghan, Christian, Nicholas, Zoe, John, Chad, Hannah R., Jack, Hannah C., C.J., Justin, Mia, Helaina and Rylan.

He was predeceased by his grandson Kyle.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral from the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) on Wednesday, May 27 at 9:00 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at St. Brendan Church, 382 Hartford Ave. in Bellingham at 10 a.m.

Burial will take place at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne on Wednesday afternoon at 1:15 p.m.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 - 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, John’s family request that donations be made in his memory either by giving blood or monetarily to the American Red Cross, P.O. Box 4002018, Des Moines, IA, 50340-2018.
