Joyce Ann Wright Pate, 74, of Irwin County, Georgia, died Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at her daughter’s residence in Martinez, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held, 11 AM, Friday, May 22, 2015, at Frank Primitive Baptist Church, in Irwin County, with Elder Edward McIntyre officiating. Interment will follow in the Whitley Cemetery in Irwin County. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Mrs. Pate was born June 29, 1940, in Irwin County, Georgia to the late Talmadge F. and Edwina Brock Wright. Mrs. Pate graduated from Irwin County High School and lived in the community all of her life. She was a homemaker and formerly worked for the Irwin County Library. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and she enjoyed playing bridge with the Thursday Night Duplicate Club, playing golf and growing flowers. She was a member of Frank Primitive Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children and their spouses: Chris & Michele Pate of Fitzgerald and Cindy & Jay Kirkland of Martinez; grandchildren: Trey Kirkland and Jayce Kirkland; a sister and her husband: Dean & Ronald Giddens of Ocilla and a brother and his wife: Talmadge Wright, Jr. & Mary Clyde of Ocilla; sisters-in-law: Betty P. Howells, Deloria Ann & Neal Denham, and Marilyn & Wendell Pope. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Dalton McCoy Pate, a sister-in-law: Robena & Junior Cannon and brothers-in-law: Stanley Howells and Avery & Jean Pate.
