Obituary

CHICOPEE – Cecile A. (Archambault) Mongeau, 76, of the Willimansett section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, May 13, 2015. She passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Saint Antoine-sur-Richelieu, Province of Quebec, Canada on November 29, 1938, a beloved daughter of the late Paul Emile Archambault and Louisa (Jacques) Archambault. She was raised in Canada and came to Springfield at a young age. She later lived in West Springfield before moving to Chicopee. She previously was employed at the Carando Company in Springfield and later the A. G. Spalding Company in Chicopee. She was last employed for 28 years as a nurse’s aide at the former Riverdale Gardens Nursing Home in West Springfield where she received numerous awards for her outstanding work. She also worked part-time at the former Chicopee Rest Home in Aldenville. Most of all, she was a wonderful homemaker to her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. Active in her Catholic faith, she was a longtime communicant of the former Saint Joseph Church in Springfield, the former Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Willimansett and now a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Aldenville. She leaves her beloved husband and best friend, Yvon E. Mongeau. They were married on November 29, 1963 at the former Saint Joseph Church in Springfield and were blessed with over 51 years of happiness together. She also leaves her three loving children, Andre E. Mongeau and Denise L. Mongeau and her partner, George DiCesare, all of Chicopee, and Roger P. Mongeau and his wife, Rebecca, of Ellington, CT; her cherished grandson whom she adored, Mason Alain Mongeau; her two dear brothers and her dear sister, Jacques Archambault and his wife, Murielle, of Trois Rivieres, P.Q., Canada, Suzanne Archambault of Drummondville, P.Q., Canada, and Robert Archambault and his wife, Celine, of Montreal, P.Q., Canada; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins and extended members of the Mongeau and Archambault families. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her loving son, Richard Y. Mongeau who was Called Home in 2011; and her two dear brothers and her three dear sisters, Jean-Paul Archambault, Jean-Guy Archambault, Solange Beauregard, Henriette Dionne and Lucienne Belanger. Her funeral will be held on Saturday morning, May 23, 2015 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, May 22, 2015 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
