Marie McAllister Tucker McBrayer, born December 18, 1928 in Tift County at her family home place in the Harding Community, passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at her granddaughter’s residence in Tennessee. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 16, 2015, at Liberty Baptist Church in Tifton with Rev. Glen Ford and Rev. Steve Tucker officiating. Mrs. McBrayer will be laid to rest at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Tifton. The family will receive friends Friday, May 15, 2015, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. McBrayer's nephews and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.
Marie was a nurse at Tift General Hospital and later with Tift Regional Medical Center for 56 years and a member of Liberty Baptist Church of Tifton. Her family was always her number one priority and she loved and lived life to the fullest. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy McBrayer, who died in 2000. She was also preceded in death by her parents, James Cauley and Erma Bowen McAllister; four brothers, Otis McAllister of Harrison, Ohio, Carl McAllister of Tifton, John “Buster” McAllister of Tifton and Myers McAllister of Tifton; and two sisters, Erma Jean McAllister White Yarbrough of Albany and Mary Lee McAllister Ford of Tifton.
Marie is survived by two daughters, Wanda Tucker Smith of Tifton and Janice Tucker Stinson (David Stinson) of Douglasville, formerly of Tifton; two step-daughters, Lynette Pope of Okeechobee, Florida and Beth McBrayer of Tifton; five grandchildren, Beth Morris Busbin (Ronnie Busbin) of Cunningham, Tennessee, Chad Morris of Tifton, Jan Stinson Adams (Johnny Adams) of Douglasville, Misty Morris Winzenried (Jason Winzenried) of Moultrie and David Stinson, Jr. (Laura Stinson) of Douglasville; 14 great-grandchildren, Matthew Allen of Fort Hood, Texas, Bethany Busbin of Cunningham, Tennessee, Cody Busbin of Richmond, Kentucky, Cass Busbin of Clarksville, Tennessee, Ansley Wade of Douglasville, Austin Dinkins of Tifton, Autumn Dinkins of Tifton, Mackenzie Stinson of Douglasville, David Morris of Tifton, Kaylan Moon of Douglasville, Madeline Stinson of Douglasville, Tucker Moon of Douglasville, Emily Morris of Tifton and Bodey Adams of Douglasville. Mrs. McBrayer is also survived by one sister, Betty McAllister Rainey of Ideal; two sisters-in-law, Rosie McAllister and Mary McAllister; and several nieces and nephews.
