James A. McGuire, 92 of North Andover passed away peacefully into the arms of God with his family by his side on May 12, 2015. James was born in Fall River, MA on October 18, 1922, to the late Catherine Dineen and John J. McGuire. He was married to the love of his life, Shirley (Gillis) for 66 years.
Jim was a member of the United States Army, 2nd battalion, 290th Infantry, a veteran of WWII and spent 35 days at the Battle of the Bulge. He received a Bronze Star, Combat Infantry badge and WWII Victory medal. Jim worked for Raytheon Company in Bedford, MA until his retirement in 1987. Jim loved to read and do crossword puzzles in his spare time.
Jim is survived by his wife, Shirley (Gillis) McGuire and their children, John McGuire and his wife Susan of North Andover, Kathy Gallant and her husband David of Haverhill, James McGuire and his wife Susan of Lawrence, Anne Marie Gagnon and her husband Robert of Bradford, Noreen Hubbard and her husband Dane of Bradford, Kevin McGuire of North Andover, Michael McGuire and his wife Lisa of Salem, NH, Paul McGuire and his wife Kathy of Plaistow, NH, Shirley Ciccolo and her husband Joseph of Dracut, and Patricia Minassian and her husband Richard of Derry, NH; 21 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to a Funeral Mass to be held on Friday, May 15th, at 1:30 pm at Saint Michael’s Church, 196 Main Street, North Andover, MA. At the request of the family there will be no calling hours and burial will be private. Arrangements are under the directions of the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc.
