Obituary

Fowler, of S. Easton, formerly of Brockton, February 25, 2005, Phyllis E. (Boyd) Fowler, 90 years. Wife of the late Francis S. ‘Swanee” Fowler. Mother of Donald F. and his wife Lynn of E. Bridgewater, James M. and his wife Janice of S. Easton, Kathleen F. Wagner and her husband F. Paul of Georgia, Michael and his wife Luanne of Kingston and Joseph B. and his wife Terry of Brockton. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Tuesday at 8am. Funeral Mass in St. Edith Stein Church at 9am. Burial will be held at a later date in Nemasket Hill Cemetery, Middleboro. Visiting Hours Monday 4-8pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.

Obituary Information

Mrs. Fowler died Friday morning after a short stay at Life Care Center of West Bridgewater. She had been a long survivor of Breast Cancer. Born and raised in Brockton, daughter of the late Charles M. and Grace W. (Hayden) Boyd, she was a graduate of Brockton High School, class of 1932. She had been a resident of Brockton until moving to South Easton five years ago.

Prior to starting her family she had been employed as a sales clerk for several years at Kresge’s Department Store in downtown Brockton. She was active with her children’s activities spending time as a Den Mother, Girl Scout Leader, a member of the Parent Teachers Association, and American Field Service, a student exchange program. For many years she and her husband would take their children camping at Nickerson State Park in Brewster. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, was an avid reader and loved to travel across the United States, Canada and Alaska. She also loved spending time with her family. She was a former member of St. Margaret’s Church Guild and Sodality.

She is survived by four sons Donald F. Fowler of East Bridgewater, James M. Fowler of South Easton, Michael Fowler of Kingston and Joseph B. Fowler of Brockton, one daughter Kathleen F. Wagner of Decatur, Georgia, 11 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, one brother William J. Boyd of Eastham, and many nieces and nephews.

She was the wife of the late Francis S. “Swanee” Fowler and sister of the late Marion G. Boyd and Dorothy A. (Bolduc) Behrle
