Obituary

WAYLAND: George H. Blood, 90, died peacefully surrounded by his family on April 21, 2015 following a period of declining health.
He was born in Winchester on December 28, 1924 the son of the late Wayland Potter Blood and Katharine Day (Freeman) Blood.
George is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years Margaret “Peg” Blood (Wood) Blood of Wayland. Beloved father of Robert W. “Bob” Blood of Weston and the late Deborah C. Blood who died on March 1, 2010. Brother of Jane Sencer of Stone Mountain, GA and Wayland F. Blood of Naples. FL. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
George had been a resident of Wayland for over 58 years and spent his earlier years in Belmont where he graduated from Belmont High School. He graduated from Mass Maritime Academy and entered the Merchant Maries and the United States Navy and served as a LTJG during World War II. After his tour of duty, he received his BS in Business Administration from Boston University. From 1951 until his retirement in 1986, he was a sales representative for International Silver Company now known as the Wallace Silver Co. of Meriden. CT. He was a longtime member of the Community United Methodist Church and volunteered on several of the committees of the church.
He was an avid sports enthusiast and particularly enjoyed the New England Patriots. He and his wife Peg, along with the children, enjoyed many years at their summer home in West Chatham enjoying the beach, clamming and summer recreations. He also enjoyed visiting Florida and his and Peg’s trip to Holland. George enjoyed being around people from all walks of life and loved the time spent with his family.
A Memorial Service celebrating George’s life will be on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Community United Methodist Church, 5 Damon St (corner of Damon St and Main Street (Rte 27), Wayland. Private family interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Wayland.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts in his memory may be sent to the American Diabetes Association, 10 Speen St, Second Floor, Framingham, MA 01701.
