FALL RIVER - George Rapoza, age 81, husband of the late Hilda (Andre) Rapoza. Residence 214 Judson St., Tiverton, RI, formerly of 15 Burt St., Fall River, MA. Died Friday at St. Anne’s Hospital. He is survived by one son: Robert Rapoza of Tiverton, RI one daughter: Susan Charest of Swansea, MA, two brothers: Antone Rapoza of Bristol, RI & Joseph Rapoza of Fall River, MA, three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was also brother of the late Manuel and John Rapoza, Mary Medeiros, Margaret Cabral, and Deolinda Borges.
He was born in Fall River, MA the son of the late Manuel Rapoza and the late Margaret(Medeiros)Rapoza. He was a Tiverton resident since Aug. of 2004, previously, he resided in Fall River. Before retiring, he worked as a Fabricator at Haskon in Taunton. He was an avid Pigeon Flyer and was a member of the former Avon Pigeon Club. He was a U.S.Army Veteran of WW II with rank of Corporal. He was one of five brothers that served in WW II under General George Patton. He was a member of Holy Name Church.
His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 1521 No. Main St., on Tuesday at 9:00 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Name Church, Hanover St.Fall River, MA at 10:00 AM. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery, Stafford Rd. Fall River. Calling hours Monday 4-7 P.M.
