Charles E. Fopiano, age 77, of Wakefield formerly of Medford and Everett, passed away February 22nd following a short illness. He was the beloved husband of Lorraine (Schifano) and the late Josephine (D´Amore). Born in Everett he was the son of the late Carlo and Clementina (Zuretti) Foppiano.
Charles was retired from the Exxon Corp. where he worked for thirty-three years as an aviation fuel inspector. He was a United States Navy Veteran of WWII serving honorably from 1944 to 1946. He was the Past Commander of the V.F.W. Post 2346 of Saugus and was currently serving as the post chaplain. He was also a member of the Malden Moose Lodge 1910 and the American Legion Post 45 of Medford. Charles was devoted to his family and enjoyed bowling, bingo, dancing and traveling. In addition to his beloved wife Lorraine, He is survived by his two sons, Richard Fopiano and his wife Karen of Florida, Robert Fopiano and his wife Karen of Medford. He was the loving Papa of Stephanie, Lisa, Richard, Charles, and Joseph. He is also survived by his sisters, Marie Chetwynde of New Hampshire, Ruth Penfield of Florida, Jean Walsh of Braintree, and his brother, Richard Foppiano of Florida. He is further survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home 306 Main St. Medford, Saturday, at 9 AM. Followed by funeral mass celebrated in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner St., Somerville, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Friday 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with entombment at Woodlawn Mausoleum, Everett.
