Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Saturday at 8am. Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 9am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visiting Hours Friday 4-8pm.
Obituary Information
Claire M. Lucey died Sunday evening at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center after a period of failing health. Born in Brockton, daughter of the late Charles C. and Nora (Corbett) Lucey, she had been a life long resident. She was a graduate of Brockton High School, class of 1928 and received her Bachelors Degree from North Adams State Teachers College. She taught in Randolph elementary schools all of her teaching career, and retired after 48 years as principal of the McNeil, Belcher and Tower Hill schools in June 1978.
She was a member of the Randolph Teachers Association, Massachusetts Principals Association, Massachusetts Teachers Association, National Education Association, member of the former Ruth Cleveland Club and member of the Brockton Democratic City Committee. She had been very active in city, state and national politics.
She is survived by two sisters Lorraine C. Mitchell of Litchfield, S. Carolina and Phyllis V. McLaughlin of Easton, one brother John C. Lucey of Jewett City, CT; 16 nieces and nephews and 28 grand nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late C. Gerald Lucey, former Mayor of Brockton, Bernice Noonan and Irene Lucey.
