LOWELL—Ruth A. “Ruthie” (Merancy) Hogan, 70 years old died unexpectedly, Sunday February 13th, at the Lowell General Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Edward J. Hogan, who survives her.
She was born in Derby, CT, on October 31, 1934, a daughter of Mary (Loda) Merancy, of Oxford, CT; and the late George Merancy, She was raised in Ansonia, CT, and attended Ansonia Public Schools, later graduating from Ansonia High School. She moved to Lowell in 1958 with her husband.
Among Ruth’s favorite pastimes were spending time with her family and reading obituaries. Ruth was also very proud to be of Lithuanian decent. She was a communicant of the former St. Joseph’s Lithuanian Church.
Surviving her besides her husband and mother are a daughter: Ellen Hogan, of Lowell; two sons and daughters-in-law: David and Polly Hogan, of Salisbury; and Edward and Therese Hogan, of Chelmsford; three grandchildren: Anarose, Emily and Eamon Hogan, a sister Jean DuPaul, of Oxford, CT.
A private service was held Wednesday February 16th for the family.
