Eleanor J. Brown

...retired from Boston School Department; age 99

TEWKSBURY - Eleanor J. (Copeland) Brown, age 99, a former cafeteria worker in the Bostonschool system, died Monday, April 15, at the Blairehouse of Tewksbury, after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Frederick B. Brown Sr. who died in 1972.

She was born in Dedham, December 28, 1902, a daughter of the late James and Margaret (Shea)Copeland. She lived in Quincy and Boston the greater part of her life, and moved to Tewksburyin 1990.

She retired from the Boston public school’s lunch program.

As a resident of Tewksbury, she was a communicant of St. William’s Church, and was a formercommunicant of Boston’s Mission Church.

She was predeceased by her children and their spouses; Frederick B. and his wife Jean (Carney)Brown Jr. and Mary Francita and her husband Philip Henderson, her brother, the late JamesCopeland, and her sister, the late Rev. Sr. Margaret Francita Copeland, S.S.N.D.

She is survived by eight grandchildren; Kenneth and his wife Hedgie (Salerno) Brown, Donna(Brown) and her husband Syd March, Patricia (Brown) and her husband Robert Donovan all ofTewksbury, Jayne (Brown) and her husband Robert Matheson of Dracut, Kathleen (Brown) andher husband Michael Renaud of Litchfield, NH, Frederick Brown III of Billerica, Philip and hiswife Mary (Salmon) Henderson of Pembroke, Eleanor (Henderson) and her husband MohamedMohamed of Quincy, seven great grandchildren, George and Robert Donovan, Frederick BrownIV, Sean Brown, Malia and Zachary Henderson, Ahmed Mohamed, and one great great grandson,Brandon Donovan.

Her funeral was held Friday, Apr. 19, in St. William’s Church. Interment was in New Calvary Cemetery,Boston.
