Obituary

John J. Donahue, 85, of Mattapoisett and Randolph, MA died February 19, 2005 at home after a long illness.
He was the husband of the late Catheryn A. (Miller) Donahue and companion of Frances Yannow of Randolph.
Born in Mattapan, son of the late Patrick and Ellen (Gilligan) Donahue, he lived in Mattapan, Randolph, Dorchester and Avon most of his life.
Mr. Donahue was formerly employed by the Boston School System as a custodian for many years until his retirement. Prior to that he was a taxi cab driver in Boston and worked at the Fore River Shipyard in Quincy where he helped build the USS Massachusetts.
He was a communicant of St. Casmir's Church in Brockton, St. Rita's Church in Marion and St. Michael's Church in Avon.
He was a member of the Randolph Senior Citizens. He enjoyed going to the race track and he was an avid bowler and Red Sox fan. Mr. Donahue always had an old fashioned tune to sing for every situation in life. He was a member of the Kingdom of God Prayer Group in Quincy and Marriage Encounter.
Survivors include 3 daughters, Beverly Butler of Mattapoisett, Alice Murphy and her husband Larry of Shawnee, Kansas, and Joyce Keegan and her husband Robert of Randolph and Mattapoisett; a brother, Paul Donahue of Yarmouth, MA; a sister, Mary Symes of Dorchester; 12 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews, including David Miller of Hyde Park.
He was the brother of the late Thomas Donahue, Emmett Donahue, and Leo Donahue and the father-in-law of the late James Butler and William Moore.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6), Mattapoisett, Wednesday, February 23rd at 9 AM. Funeral Mass at St. Rita's Church at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Visiting hours Tuesday, February 22nd from 4-8 PM.
Interment St. Michael's Cemetery, Avon.
