Rudolph “Rudy” Sevigny, 79, of 46 Merrimac St. died February 18, 2005 in his home following a brief illness. He was born in Laconia on November 8, 1925, the son of Omar and Blanche (Nadeau) Sevigny and had lived on the same street all of his life.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II and while serving on the USS Quincy was a participant of the Yalta Conference.
Prior to his retirement in 1983, he had been employed as a machinist at the Belknap Mills for many years. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart parish.
Mr. Sevigny was a member of the Laconia Lodge of Elks, the VFW Post 1670 of Laconia and the Wilkins-Smith Post #1 American Legion also of Laconia.
Members of the family include his wife of 56 years, Lorraine (Lacasse) Sevigny of Laconia; three daughters, Jeanne Price and her husband Steven Price of Belmont, Ellen Cellupica and her husband Robert Cellupica of Hopkinton MA and Marsha Richardson and her husband David Richardson of Laconia; seven grandchildren; one great grandchild; four sisters, Rita Therrien of Gilford, Gisele Drouin of Clearwater FL, Claire Stone of Princeton IN and Annette Davis of Burlington CT; many nieces and nephews.
A calling hour was held in the Simoneau & Lambert Funeral Home, 139 Church St. Tuesday morning. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in Sacred Heart Church 291 Union Ave. Tuesday at 11 AM. Rev. Adrien Longchamps, pastor was the celebrant. Spring burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Community Health & Hospice, 780 North Main St., Laconia NH 03246.
