Alec “Buck” Williamson, 87, of the Salem Community in Ben Hill County, Georgia, died Thursday, February 17, 2005 at Dorminy Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Sunday, February 20, 2005 at Salem Baptist Church, Ben Hill County, with Rev. Danny Lovett and Rev. J.A. Clements officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7:00 until 9:00 Saturday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Williamson was born August 20, 1917, in Ben Hill County, Georgia, to the late G.F.A. and Appie Paul Williamson. He lived in the community all of his life. Mr. Williamson was a farmer and a former employee of Howard Moore’s Grocery Store. He served on the Ben Hill Board of Education for twenty years, where he was also a former substitute school bus driver. He was a member, a Deacon and former Sunday school teacher at Salem Baptist Church. Mr. Williamson was a member of the Woodmen Of The World and the Agricultural Stabilization Conservation Service Board.
Mr. Williamson is survived by his wife of sixty-five years: Minnie Smith Williamson, Salem Community, Ben Hill County; two sons: J. Printis (Nellie) Williamson, Gordon, GA and Calvin L. (Stella) Williamson, Salem Community; one daughter: Debra A. (Hoss) Reaves, Salem Community; eight grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers: J.W. Williamson, Fitzgerald, and T.M. Williamson, Waycross; one sister: Adele Land, Ben Hill County. He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
