Obituary

John J. Ratcliffe of Dedham and South Yarmouth, died Feb.16 at the VA Medical Center in Brockton. He was 87. Mr. Ratcliffe was born in Fall River and was the son of the late Joseph W. & Catherine (Holcroft) Ratcliffe. He was a World War II Army Air Corps. Veteran. He worked as a mechanic for eastern Airlines for 30 years. He was a avid sailor, bowler, golfer, and a Red Sox and football fan. Mr. Ratcliffe was a member of Dedham American Legion, Dedham V.F.W., Dedham Retired Men’s Club, and the Over the Hill Gang.

He was the husband of the late Marguerite (Mills) Ratcliffe. He is survived by his children Mary Catherine Guild and her husband Scott of Mansfield, Patricia A. Conroy and her husband Timothy of North Attleboro, Jo Anne Spencer and her husband Edwin of South Hempstead, NY, and Mark I. Ratcliffe and his wife Barbara of Mansfield. He was the father of the late John J. Ratcliffe and his wife Kathleen of Framingham. Brother of James Ratcliffe of Fl. Also survived by 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Funeral from the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St., Dedham, on Sat. at 8 am. Funeral mass in St. Susanna’s Church, Dedham, at 9 am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours on Fri. from 4-8 pm. Interment in White Cemetery, Freetown, MA Expressions of sympathy may be made in John’s memory to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
