Obituary

John "Jack" McGirt, 74, of Madison, GA passed away Wednesday evening, May 6, 2015 at Baptist Medical Center in Fernandina Beach, FL.
He was born and raised in Waycross, GA and moved to Madison 15 years ago from Stone Mountain, GA. Jack was the owner of Esquire Insurance Agencies in Madison and Conyers. He retired in February of this year. He was a member of the 1958 graduating class of Waycross High School and a graduate of TCCC College.
Jack was a U. S. Army Vietnam Veteran serving as a medic with the 82nd Airborne Special Forces. He was a Green Beret and was awarded the Bronze Star and well as other military decorations.
He loved visiting Fernandina Beach and hunting for sharks' teeth. He was a joker with a great sense of humor. Jack loved all animals and was a supporter of numerous charities. He was compassionate, generous, and a loving husband and devoted father.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, June McGirt of Madison, GA; daughters Daphne Hill (Jeff) of North Richland Hills, TX, Kimberly Patton (Buck) of Pineville, LA and Jennifer Rose of Columbia, SC; Also surviving him are six grandchildren, Josh Hill, Curtis Hill, Garrett Hill, Buck Patton, IV, Britton Patton and Christian Patton; four great grandchildren, Colt, Landon, Natalie and Carson; and two nieces, Jamie Fields and Linda Elliston.
Services will be Private.
