Mary E. Dignan, 92, of Chester Road, Derry, NH died Saturday April 13, 2002 at the Birchwood Nursing Home, Derry, NH. She was born in Uxbridge, MA on January 26, 1910 a daughter of the late Joseph P. and Anne Brennan. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School, Melrose, MA. She worked as a secretary for the Oliver Ditson Company in Boston, MA prior to her marriage in 1939 to John E. Dignan. The family lived in Wakefield, MA for many years after which John and Mary retired to South Dennis, MA. After John’s Death in 1981 Mary remained on the Cape until 1994, when she moved to Derry, NH.
She is survived two daughters, Judith A. Vining, of Derry, NH, Mary E. Larkin, Londonderry, NH, two sons, Robert J. Dignan, of San Luis Obispo, CA, Peter J. Dignan, of Sutton, MA, eleven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two sisters, Patricia Walsh, Gertrude Powers, both of Melrose, MA and one brother, Lawrence Brennan, of Scituate, MA.
There will be no calling hours. Following cremation, a Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2002 at 11:00am at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Crystal Avenue, Derry. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, One Tremont Street, Concord, NH 03301. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry is handling the arrangements.
