Manuel J. ‘Manny’ Santos of Provincetown died Wednesday, May 6th at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis. He was 72. His wife, Elizabeth [Talbot] Santos died in 2011.
Born and educated in Provincetown, he was the son of the late Edmund and Bertha [Snow] Santos. He retired from Conwell Lumber Co. in 2010, where he worked for 45 years. A Certified EMT, he volunteered on Auxiliary Pumper #2 and was an Auxiliary Officer of the Provincetown Police Department. He also used to enjoy hunting and fishing.
Daughters Bertha Kacergis of Eastham and Carol Moss and husband Pat of Waterville, Maine; and son Edmund Santos and wife Sandra of Everett, along with son Roland Santos of Harwich survive him. A brother, Vernon Santos and wife Lonnie of Hyannis and a sister Mary Peres of Provincetown also survive him. He was predeceased by a brother, Francis Santos. He also leaves grandchildren Aaron and Nury Kacergis, Emma Santos, Brandy Moss and great grandson Matthew Kacergis.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Gately Funeral Home, 94 Harry Kemp Way, Provincetown, on Tuesday, May 19th from 4:00 – 7:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, May 20th in St Peter the Apostle Church, Prince St, Provincetown.
