BEVERLY: Alice F. (Buckley) Martino, 89, died Sunday, May 3, 2015 in the Beverly Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late John A. Martino who died in 2004.
Born in Needham on November 22, 1925, she was the daughter of the late William J. and Edith L. (Von Malder) Buckley. She had resided in Dorchester before moving to Beverly in 1951.
Alice traveled extensively and was a great movie fan. An avid reader, she enjoyed crossword puzzles and belonged to a card club for over fifty years with her dear friends. At the age of fifty-five, she graduated from Suffolk University with a degree in business.
She was the loving mother of Kathleen Martino, Diane Martino, John Martino and his wife, Karen, Audrey Martino and her fiancée, Dave Sullivan, Dean Martino and his wife, Lawrie Bertram, James Martino and his wife, Shari Sharkey; seven grandchildren, Dr. Natasha Cunningham and her fiancé, Dr. Behrouz Namdari, Kane Cunningham, Madeleine Fox and John, Breeana, Dylan and Rebecca Martino; three sisters, June Sullivan and her husband, Daniel, Eleanor Patterson and Patricia Trainor and her husband, Ray; one brother, William Buckley and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by a sister, Edith Maffei and two brothers, Henry Buckley and Arthur Buckley.
Her funeral service was privately held in the Puritan Lawn Cemetery, W. Peabody. Expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, One St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38101.
