Louis Pliakos, 67, of Manchester passed away on Wednesday May 6, 2015 after a period of declining health. He was born on August 15, 1947. In Martini, Greece, son of the late Kostantinos Pliakos and Aristea (Pananos) Pliakos. He was educated both in Greece and in the Manchester school system. He was a graduate from UNH in 1974 with a degree in education and mathematics.
Mr. Pliakos was a member of the U.S Army, 101 Airborne Division, Mortar Platoon. He served in Vietnam and received the Purple Heart, Silver Star and Bronze Star.
Before retirement, he was a Manchester school teacher of Mathematics from 1974-2004 at Webster Elementary School, Hillside Jr High, and Central High School.
Along with his parents, Louis was predeceased by a brother and sister Alex, Angela; and his only beloved son Kostantinos (Kosta).
Surviving members of his family include his loving wife Faye (Didaskalou) Pliakos of Manchester and a daughter Dr. Maria A Pliakos DNM, PhD, Th.M of Manchester and a grandson Stavros Kostantinos Ouellette. Family members also include his brothers and sisters, Vangie Gregorious, James Pliakos, Loula Athanasiou, Billy Pliakos, Tony Pliakos, Fotini Rokas all of Manchester. He also leaves behind, several godchildren and many nieces and nephews. His beloved dogs Bear and Bella.
The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to the transfusion staff, Tammy, Katie, and Sue, Jessica on the 6th Floor, Fitch Unit at Elliot Hospital as well as the staff at the Community Hospice House.
Services: Calling hours will be held on Monday May 11, 2015 from 9:00-11:00am, at J.N Boufford & Sons Funeral Home 110 Bridge Street, Manchester, NH,: The Trisagion service will be at 10:00am. A Greek Orthodox burial will be celebrated immediately following the calling hours at the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church. An Orthodox burial with military honors will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Manchester.
