Michael Edward Sanford, 60, of New Bedford died on May 5, 2015, within days of suffering a massive stroke.
Michael is survived by his brother, Warren Russell Sanford, his aunt, Felicia A. Jardin-Bociek, his uncles, Stephen and Rudolph Bociek, 5 nieces and nephews, 26 great-nieces and nephews, and many cousins. He will be greatly missed by his family as well as his good friends and the staff personnel at Fellowship House Resource, Inc., of Massachusetts, especially those associated with the homes at 552 and 241 County Street in New Bedford, where Michael lived for more than 30 years.
In his younger days, Michael was an excellent baseball player and enjoyed other sports as well. He especially enjoyed swimming at Horseneck Beach.
Despite suffering many afflictions during his life, Michael kept and shared his sense of humor, his Christian faith, and his concern for his family and friends.
His Funeral will be held on Saturday, May 9th at 8 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by his Funeral Mass at St. Lawrence Church at 9 AM. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Friday, May 8th from 3-6 PM.
