Obituary

Helen J. (O'Brien) Banks, a 44 year resident of Arlington and formerly of Charlestown and Cambridge, entered into eternal life on Friday, May 1, 2015 at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington. She was 92 years old.

Helen was born in Cambridge on January 17, 1923, a daughter of the late William O'Brien and Mary (McDonough) O'Brien. She grew up in Cambridge where she was educated in the Cambridge Public School system. Helen was a homemaker for the majority of her life, devoting her life to caring for her beloved family. Helen loved playing bingo, listening to Irish music, and spending holidays with her family.

Helen is the beloved wife of the late Samuel Banks. She is the devoted mother of William Banks of Portland, Maine, Johanne Yablonsky of Burlington, Edward Banks and his wife Beth of Wisconsin, Dennis Banks and his wife Marjie of Wilmington, John Banks and his wife Eliane of Woburn, and the late Helen Bernier, Michael Banks, and Thomas Banks. She is the loving grandmother to 18 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Helen is the beloved sister of the late Margaret Quivey and Mary Alden.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Helen's Funeral on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
