Obituary

WEST BRIDGEWATER - Edwin J. Silva, 71, of West Bridgewater, formerly of Bridgewater, died Tuesday, Feb. 15, at Morton Hospital in Taunton after a brief illness. He was the husband of June M. (Rego) Silva.

Born Oct. 24, 1933, in Bridgewater, he was the son of the late Joseph and Angelica (Munise) Silva.

Mr. Silva was raised and educated in Bridgewater, having attended Bridgewater schools.

He was a machinist edge trimmer at FootJoy Co. for 45 years.

Mr. Silva was a U.S. Army veteran and served during the Korean War.

He was a Boston Bruins fan and Boston Red Sox fan and enjoyed golf.

Mr. Silva also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife of 49 years, June, he is survived by three daughters, Michele Silva of West Bridgewater, Marianne Silva of Brockton and Milissa Annello of Raynham; two sisters, Juliet Brunetti and Lula Spillane, both of Taunton; two brothers, George Silva and Edmund Silva, both of Bridgewater; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews. He was father to the late Michael Silva.

His funeral will be from the Prophett Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St. (Rte. 18), Bridgewater, Friday at 8:15 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass in St. Thomas Aquinas Church at 9 a.m. Burial will be in St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery, Bridgewater.

Visiting hours are Thursday from 4-8 p.m.
