EAST BRIDGEWATER - Mark P. Brash, 84, of East Bridgewater, formerly of Burlington, died Monday at South Shore Hospital after a brief period of failing health. He was the husband of Marguerite (Lovett) Brash.
Born in Boston on June 9, 1920, he was the son of the late Jacob and Marie (Galiano) Brash.
Mr. Brash was a graduate of Mechanic Arts High School in Boston, Class of 1939, and from Boston College in 1950 with a degree in chemistry.
Mr. Brash was a retired chemist for Kennecott Copper of Lexington and Avco Corp. of Lowell.
He was also an adult education instructor at the Westwood Bridge Club and a member of the American Contract Bridge Club.
Mr. Brash was a World War II U.S. Army veteran.
He was a resident of East Bridgewater for the past five years, coming from Burlington, and enjoyed football.
In addition to his wife of 58 years, he is survived by his children, Susan Olson of Dracut, Ellen Hinchey and her husband John “Jack” of Billerica, Mark Brash Jr. and his wife Barbara of Hollis, N.H., and Robin Gilroy and her husband Thomas of Norwell; his twin brother, Henry Brash; eight grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Rosalie MacDonald.
His funeral will be from the Prophett Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St. (Rte. 18), Bridgewater, Friday at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass in St. John Church, East Bridgewater, at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Central Cemetery, East Bridgewater.
Visiting hours are Thursday from 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Assoc., 36 Cameron Ave., Cambridge, MA 02140, or charity of one’s choice.
