Obituary

EAST BRIDGEWATER - Robert P. Savisky Sr., 68, of East Bridgewater, formerly of Brockton, died Sunday, Feb. 13, peacefully at his home. He was the husband of 43 years to the late Virginia M. (O’Leary) Savisky.

Born in Boston on July 7, 1936, he was the son of the late Alphonse A. and Stella (Kulas) Savisky.

Raised in South Boston, Mr. Savisky was a graduate of Boston English High School and Massasoit Community College.

A career firefighter, he was a retired lieutenant with the Brockton Fire Department, where he worked for 28 years at the main headquarters.

Mr. Savisky started his career in Boston, where he worked for two years at Ladder 26.

He was a member of the National Guard in Fort Dix, N.J., and was a member of St. John Church in East Bridgewater, formerly of St. Mary’s Church in Brockton.

Mr. Savisky enjoyed tennis, going to Foxwood’s Casino and spending time with his grandchildren. He was also a Boston Red Sox fan.

He is survived by his children, Sandra Mannett and her husband James of Brockton, Robert Savisky Jr. and his wife Andrea of East Taunton and Stephen Savisky and his wife Patricia of Lynn; his grandchildren, Craig James Mannett, Brianna M. Mannett and Emily R. Savisky; and two cousins, Bernice Parkes of S. Boston and Bill Sadlowski of N. Quincy.

Funeral will be held at 9:15 a.m. Thursday from the Wales-Prophett Funeral Home, 35 Spring St., East Bridgewater, followed by a funeral Mass in St. John Church at 10 a.m. Burial in Central Cemetery, East Bridgewater.

Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 4-8 p.m.
