Obituary

CHICOPEE – Leo Poulin, 84, of the Chicopee Falls section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Monday, April 27, 2015. He passed into Eternal Life at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Saint Evariste, Province of Quebec, Canada on August 31, 1930, a beloved son of the late Philippe and Eveline (Bolduc) Poulin. He was raised in Saint Evariste, P.Q., Canada and moved to Chicopee in 1958. He was employed as a Carpenter and Foreman for the Carpenter’s Local 108 in Springfield. Active in his faith, he was a communicant of the former Saint George Church in Chicopee Falls and now a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. Most of all, he was a quiet man who adored his family and showered them with his love and affection which was returned to him a thousand fold. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Aline (Jacques) Poulin. They were married in Saint Evariste, P.Q., Canada on June 22, 1957 and were blessed with over 57 years of happiness together. He also leaves his four loving children, Dennis Poulin of Chicopee, Michael J. Poulin and his wife, Carole, of Granby, Kathy N. Schwarz and her husband, Bill, of Feeding Hills and Steven D. Poulin and his wife, Danielle, of Somers, CT; his eight cherished grandchildren whom he adored, Jaime Leab and her husband, Phill, Naomi Poulin, Allison and Billy Schwarz and Tyler, Evan, Chase and Logan Poulin; his two dear brothers, Caius Poulin and Marius Poulin and his wife, Rita, all of LaGuadeloupe, P.Q, Canada; his six dear sisters, Anne-Marie Lachance and her husband, Irenée, Ange-Aimée Beaudoin and her husband, Gregoire, and Lucianna Marceau and her husband, Albert, all of LaGuadeloupe, P.Q., Canada, Lucille Poulin and her husband, Robert Gagnon, of Saint Ephrem, P.Q., Canada, Julienne Poulin of Sherbrooke, P.Q., Canada and Odette Grondin of Quebec, Canada; his two dear brothers-in-law, Gerard Jacques and his wife, Collette, of Thetford Mines, P.Q., Canada and Aristide Jacques and his wife, Lucette, of Saint Daniel, P.Q., Canada; his dear sister-in-law, Jeannine Jacques of Saint Ephrem, P.Q., Canada; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Poulin and Jacques families. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his two step mothers, Exilia Poulin and Zephirine (Grondin) Poulin; and his dear brother, Lucien Poulin. His family would like to thank Dr. Philip Glynn and his staff at Mercy Medical Center for their care and compassion in his time of need. His funeral will be held on Monday morning, May 4, 2015 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, May 3, 2015 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
