Rev. Michael F. McLellan, the Pastor of Saint John the Evangelist Church in Canton and MBTA Police Chaplain, died unexpectedly Sunday April 26, 2015. He was 64 years old.
Before assuming his present assignment in 2008, Fr. McLellan served as Assistant Pastor at St. Margaret's, Dorchester; St. Paul's, Dorchester; St. Columbkille, Brighton,and St. Patrick's Church, Roxbury. He was also an Adminstrator of the Holy Name Parish in Dorchester and Pastor of Blessed Sacrament Church in Jamaica Plain.
Son of the late Howard and Eileen McLellan. Brother of Fr. Daniel McLellan, OFM, of S.C., Maureen M. Lovejoy of CT, Paul B. McLellan and his wife Deborah of WA, Kathleen T. Costello and her husband Martin of Attleboro, and Christine E. Edgerly and her husband John of Wrentham. Proud uncle of Christopher and Steven Lovejoy, Caroline and Julie Costello, and Mac, Kyra, and Meiju Edgerly. Fr. McLellan is also survived by many Godchildren and devoted parishioners and friends.
Fr. McLellan will be waked at St. John the Evangelist Church 700 Washington St. on Thursday from 2-8 PM with a bi-lingual Mass at 8 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday May 1, 2015 at 11:00 AM. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery Canton. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
