Irene A. Boucher, 96, of 40 Indian Field Road, Groton, died Sunday evening at Mystic Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Born September 9, 1908 at Lacolle, Canada in the Province of Quebec, she was the youngest of nine children to Mederise Aupry Grenon and Joseph Grenon. She was married May 30, 1927 to Louis E. Boucher in Lowell, MA. Her husband predeceased her on May 24, 1984. She has been a communicant of St. Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church in Groton for 37 years.
She is survived by 6 children: two sons, Ronald Boucher and his wife Ruth of Gales Ferry, Robert Boucher and his wife Katherine of Gales Ferry, four daughters, Lorraine Simmons and her husband John of Ledyard, Loretta Michaud and her husband Patrick of Gales Ferry, Sister Jeanne Boucher CSC of Manchester, NH, and Diane Haines and her husband Dennis of Groton. Other survivors include 19 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church, 69 Groton Long Point Rd, Groton on Thursday at 10am. Interment will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery, Old Mystic. There are no calling hours. Donations in her memory may be made to Saint Mary Mother of the Redeemer, Parish Center Building Fund.
