Obituary

SOUTH HADLEY – Rhea R. (Lasonde) Paradis Vient, of South Hadley, was Called Safely Home on Friday, April 24, 2015. She passed into Eternal Life at Wingate at South Hadley surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born at home on John Street in the Willimansett section of Chicopee, a beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Arminie (Emond) Lasonde. She was raised in Chicopee, graduated with honors from Chicopee High School and lived in Chicopee for many years before moving to South Hadley. She was employed as a bookkeeper at the former Kelly’s Lobster House, Public Finance and Bresnahan Insurance Company, all in Holyoke. Most of all, she was a wonderful homemaker to her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She was predeceased by her husbands, John L. Paradis who was Called Home on March 1, 1952 and Lawrence M. Vient who was Called Home on August 17, 2003. Besides her parents and husbands, she was also predeceased by her loving son, Michael L. Vient who was Called Home on December 7, 2005; her loving son-in-law, Alfred R. Lavigne who was Called Home on April 13, 1980; her brother, Albert Lasonde; and her sister, Irene Roberts. She leaves her two loving daughters, Linda G. Lavigne of South Hadley and Susan I. Mason and her husband, Eugene, of Salem, OR; her loving daughter-in-law, Diane D. Vient of Chicopee; her four cherished grandchildren, Alan Lavigne and his wife, Laurie, Scott Vient and his partner, Jennifer Nunez, Melanie Makowski and her husband, Jolon, and Katie Vient and her fiancé, Adam Haney; her seven cherished great-grandchildren, Anthony Lavigne and his wife, Phylicia, Rachael Allen and her husband, Tyson, Shauna Lavigne and her partner, Nate Mansfield, Dylan Vient, Derek Vient, Marley Makowski and Michael Haney; her cherished great-great grandson, Logan Lavigne; and her many nephews, nieces, cousins and extended members of the Vient, Paradis and Lasonde families. A private graveside service will be held at Sainte Rose Cemetery, Chicopee at the convenience of her family.
