Jody L. Blakeway, a resident of Charlestown, passed away after complications from surgery on April 25, 2015. She was 60 years old.
Jody is survived by her loving partner, Annette Andruss and their beloved Westie, Maxx. She is the daughter of Joyce and the late Rodney J. (Jim) Blakeway of Sacramento, CA. She is also survived by her siblings, Rodney J. (Jim), Jr. and his wife Nan of Healy, Alaska and Jill Blakeway and her husband Tom Schafenacker of Duvall, Washington as well as three nieces and one nephew whom she dearly loved.
Jody was raised in Sacramento and graduated from UC Davis. She worked as a registered dietician for a number of years before electing to return to school to embark on a career in business. Jody graduated from Harvard Business School in 1990 and worked in a number of organizations in various executive leadership positions including UPS, Comcast and Gillette. Most recently, she worked at athenahealth.
Jody loved both the city and the beach and she and Annette shared homes in Charlestown and Provincetown. She loved style, fashion and decorating. She traveled extensively for work and pleasure and always enjoyed spending time in Paris. She received great pleasure and satisfaction from mentoring young women in the workplace. She valued her close friends for the joy, laughter and support they shared over the years. In many ways she was like her favorite fashion icon, Coco Chanel - - an innovator, leader and role model who changed the world around her. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends and work colleagues.

Checks, made payable to Massachusetts General Hospital, can be mailed to the Neuro Radiology Department in Memory of Jody Blakeway, c/o MGH Development Office, 100 Cambridge Street, Suite 1310, Boston, MA 02114. A fund will be created at a later date in memory of Jody to support the advancement of women in leadership positions at work.
A private memorial service and celebration of Jody’s life will be held at a later date.
