Thelma Shik (born Nagle) of Revere and formerly of Delray Beach, FL and Brooklyn, NY, passed away at the age of 101 on April 24, 2015. She was the beloved wife of the late Jonas (Joe) Shik, the dear sister of the late Sophie Brovanick, and beloved aunt of Helen Shik and Marjorie Shik. Thelma was born in Poland and came to the U.S. with her family as a young girl. She lived in Dorcester with her parents and sister. After marrying, she moved with Joe to Bluefield, WV. They later moved to Brooklyn, living in Boro Park for many years to be closer to Joe's family. After Joe's retirement, they moved to Delray Beach. Thelma returned to Massachusetts after Joe's death, and lived at the Jack Satter House for nearly 15 years where she was an active member of Congregation 420. Thelma was a kind, generous and sweet woman who made friends easily and was dedicated to her family. She worked in retail before becoming a homemaker. Thelma was a lifetime member of both Hadassah and A’Amit Anshe Emunah Congregation of Delray Beach.
Graveside service will be held at Sharon Memorial Park, Sharon, MA on Sunday, April 26 at 11:45 AM and a shiva service will take place at the Sudbury home of Helen Shik on Sunday evening at 7:30 p.m. Donations in Thelma’s memory may be made to Hadassah, PO Box 1100, New York, NY 10268 or at www.hadassah.org.
