Francis J. Ruggiero, 83, died after a extended illness at the Courtyard Nursing Care Center in Medford. Born in Boston he was the son of the late Florence (Barbera) and Louis Ruggiero. Francis attended Boston Schools and graduated from Northeastern University,Boston, with a degree in Chemical Engineering.
He served in the US Army during World War II, as a 1st Lt. Stationed in Panama as a Intelligence Officer. He was a resident of Melrose, he formerly made his home in Medford for over fifty years. He reitred from the Sciaba Construction Company of Boston where he was the Construction Engineer for many years.
Surviving in addition to his wife Theresa, are two daughters Camille Aurelia and her husband Joe of Melrose, Teresa Hayes and her husband Brian of Melrose, two sons Robert and his wife Maureen of Billerica, and Richard and his wife Nancy of Woburn. Also eight loving grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held from the Dello Russo Funeral Home 306 Main St. Medford, on Wednesday, April 17, at 10 a.m., followed by a funeral mass celebrating his life in St. Joseph Church 118 High St. Medford at 11. Services will conclude with entombment in Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, Malden.Visiting Hours at the funeral home are Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9.
