Obituary

Anthony V. “Nino” Balsama, a retired insurance broker, died Thursday at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital, after a brief illness. He was 84.


The son of the late Santo and Rosa Balsama, Nino was a life-long Medford resident. He served with the Army in Europe during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart. For much of his life Nino operated his own insurance agency, A. V. Balsama Insurance, in Medford.


He is survived by his beloved wife Pauline (Musto) Balsama. He was a dear brother to Lt. Col. John Balsama, USAF (ret.) of Woburn, and the late Mary, Anna, Vena and Victoria. Nino also leaves many loving nieces and nephews and cherished friends.


Friends and family may visit Monday from 4 - 8 at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, Medford, Tuesday at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.


In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Nino’s name to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
