Obituary

WORCESTER - Joseph L. Brackett, 74, of Worcester died Saturday April 13 at home after a long illness.

His wife Estelle M. (Bonin) Brackett died in 1993. He leaves four sons Joseph E. Brackett, Michael G. Brackett, Edward J. Brackett and Peter L. Brackett all of Worcester; two daughters Marie Y. Bugbee of Dudley and Pamela J. Brackett of Worcester; 3 brothers Arthur Brackett of New Bedford, Louis Brackett of Groton, CT and Ernest Brackett of Worcester; 3 sisters Pauline Fagean of Fitchburg, Doris Kelly of Worcester and Irene Smith of New Bedford; 14 step brothers and sisters all of Rockland, ME; 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his daughter Kathy Ann Brackett of Worcester. He is also predeceased by one brother George Brackett and one sister Beatrice Brackett. He was born in Leominster son of Arthur and Eliza (Lamoureaux) Brackett and lived in Worcester for the past 70 years.

He was an Army veteran serving during the Korean War.

Mr. Brackett worked for the Sanitation Department of Worcester retiring in 1983. He also worked for many years at Colonial Bowling Alley in Worcester.

He was a member of the Christ the King Church. He was also a Sgt. at arms with the American Legion Tatnuck Post 288 and a member of the 40/8 club. He enjoyed fishing, camping, bowling and being with his family.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday April 17 from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home (www.royfuneral.com) 12 Hammond St. Worcester with a mass at 10 AM in Christ the King Church. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park. Calling hours are on Tuesday April 16 from 5 to 8 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
