Obituary

Charles J. Carreiro, Sr., 80, of Westport Harbor, died Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at St. Anne’s Hospital. He was husband of the late Mary Ann (O’Kelly) Carreiro.
Born in Westport, son of the late Manuel and Mary (Gomes) Carreiro, he was a lifelong resident of Westport. A veteran of the Korean War, he served his country in the United States Army. Prior to retirement, he was owner of High Hill Farm. With his deep love of country music, Mr. Carreiro was a Nashville recording artist and a member of the Bristol County Boys Band.
Survivors include 2 sons: Charles J. Carreiro, Jr. and his wife Denise of Westport and Steven Carreiro and his wife Michelle of Westport; a daughter: Brenda Souza of Westport; 3 brothers: David Carreiro, Louis Carreiro and Thomas Carreiro all of Westport; 7 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was brother of the late Joseph Carreiro, Milton Gomes, Edward Carreiro and James Gomes.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Monday, April 27, 2015 from the Potter Funeral Home at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Baptist Church at 10:00 A.M.
Calling hours Sunday 2-5 P.M.
Interment in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
