Worcester- Anna M. “Anne” (Zaparaskas) Walinsky, 88, of 56 Kenberma Rd., died Tuesday, Feb. 8, in St. Vincent Hospital.
She leaves her husband of 65 years, Stephen V. Walinsky, Sr.; two sons, Stephen V. Walinsky Jr. of Millbury and Ronald S. Walinsky of Worcester; three grandchildren, Lynne Jalbert of Oxford, Mark Walinsky of Avon, CO, and Tara Prentiss of Worcester; 4 great grandchildren, Alyssa, Andrew, and Rebecca Jalbert, and Nathan Prentiss; a nephew, Joseph Zaparaskas; a niece, Elaine Abbott. She was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Zaparaskas. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Joseph and Anna (Zeveska) Zaparaskas and attended Commerce High School.
Mrs. Walinsky worked at Filene’s in Worcester for many years.
She was a member of St. Casimir Parish, where she was the organist and choir director for many years. She was a member of the St. Casimir Mothers Guild, the Lithuanian American Roman Catholic Womens Alliance, the Lithuanian Charitable Society, and the Knights of Lithuania, Council 26. She ran the kitchen at St. Casimir’s Church Bingo for 15 years. Mrs. Walinsky was also a member of the Organist Guild of America and sang with the Worcester County Music Festival for many years.
She was a volunteer at St. Vincent Hospital and was named Volunteer of the Year in 1998. Her hobbies included houseplants, painting, and musical endeavors. She cherished her family and especially took great joy in her grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Saturday, Feb. 12, from HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Casimir Church, 41 Providence St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11 in the funeral home. The Knights of Lithuania, Council 26, will perform a ritual at 3:30 p.m. Friday during the calling hours.
