Neva M. (Kimmerling) Caplinger
July 14, 1928- April 17, 2015
Neva M. (Kimmerling) Caplinger, 86, of Anderson passed away to the Lord's care on April 17, 2015.
Neva was born on July 14, 1928 in Madison County and was a lifelong resident of Anderson.
She graduated from Anderson High School in 1947 and attended Indiana University.
She was a legal secretary in Madison County Superior Court for 18 years before retiring in 1996.
She was very active in the Democratic Party since 1957, serving in various leadership roles within the Madison County Women's Democrat Club. She was a life member of the Roosevelt-Kennedy Club and proudly received the Roosevelt-Kennedy Award in 2003. In addition to active membership in many community organizations, she also tremendously enjoyed her bridge club of over 50 years and her many friends.
Neva was also a member and regular attendee of First Baptist Church in Anderson.
Neva will be remembered by her loved ones as a resilient spirit who loved to have fun.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey (Karla) Caplinger of Pendleton; grandchildren: Orion Dillworth of Dallas, Texas, Sarah Oznick (husband Terry) of Chicago, Illinois; Adam Caplinger (wife Bethany) of Pendleton; great grandchildren Reese and Rylynn Caplinger.
She was preceded in death by her beloved mother and step-father, Elsie and Chester Powell, brother, Hubert "Duke" Kimmerling, son, Greg Caplinger and lifelong friend Marie Phillips.
Friends may call from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on Monday at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service. Services will follow at 11 a.m. Monday, with Dr. Art Jaggard officiating. Services will continue with burial at East Maplewood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist church, 907 North Raible Avenue, Anderson, IN 46011.
