Obituary

Orland William “Buck” Marshall, Jr. passed away peacefully at home at the age of 76, on April 15th, 2015 In Oxnard, CA. Buck is survived by his Wife, Christina Sturm Marshall, Sons, Todd Alan (wife Trish) and, Brett William Marshall, (Oxnard CA), Step Daughter October Stillwell, (San Francisco CA), His 3 Grandchildren, Nicole, Zachary, and Jagger Marshall, (Oxnard CA), Sisters Patsy Somers and Jean Balderson, (Crisfield MD), along with many extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by Parents Orland William Sr. and Margaret Ward Marshall, his first wife, Mary Carolyn (Pigg) Marshall, and his Sister Doris Faye Balderson, (Crisfield MD).
Buck was born on February 20, 1939 in Crisfield MD, where he spent his youth until 1956 when he joined the Navy Seabees, stationed at Port Hueneme, CA. Upon discharge he made Oxnard his permanent home. After a short time working in the oil fields Buck began his apprenticeship with Sheet Metal Workers Local #273. In 1976 he opened “Fire and Ice Systems” which he operated until 1988. He then worked alongside his son’s in the Sheet Metal, HVAC trade until his retirement. During his career he was active in SMACNA and VCCA trade associations.
Buck was an unforgettable man who touched many people’s lives. He was a loving Husband, an actively involved Father, Grandfather and a good friend to all who knew him. Buck enjoyed life and people. He had many hobbies and loved sports but his true passion was Golf.
He was active in Buenaventura Men’s Golf Club for many years, serving on the Board of Directors for 15 years and as President in 2013 and 2014. He never passed up an opportunity to be out on the course and this passion carried him through the last months of his battle with cancer.
Friends are welcome to an informal Celebration of Life which will be held from 12:00-3:00 Sunday April 26th at The Wedgewood Wedding and Banquet Center on the Buenaventura Golf Course in Ventura. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ventura County Jr. Golf Association, http://www.vcjga.org/contactus.shtml. The family would like to thank the Doctors and Staff at the Greater LA VA Facility and Rose Room Hospice.
