Michael P. Sheehan
Retired Tewksbury Police Juvenile Detective
TEWKSBURY: Michael P. Sheehan, age 52, of Lowell, formerly of Tewksbury, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, April 14, 2015.
Born in Boston on September 11, 1962, he was the son of the late Maurice A. and Ellen M. (Walsh) Sheehan.
Mike was raised in Tewksbury, attended Tewksbury schools and graduated in 1981 from the Shawsheen Valley Technical High School in Billerica.
Prior to his retirement, he served the Town of Tewksbury for 27 years on the Police Department and the last 11 years as a Juvenile Detective. In addition, he was a 26 year member of the Tewksbury Police Honor Guard.
Mike was a 30 year member and current Manager of the U.S. Bunting & Cricket Club in Lowell.
An avid sports enthusiast who loved to travel, Mike enjoyed playing golf and treasured the years spent as an Assistant Varsity Football Coach at Shawsheen Tech.
Nothing was more important to Mike than his family and friends.
He is survived by his brother, Tewksbury Police Chief, Timothy B. Sheehan and his wife Louise (Nigrelli) of Tewksbury; his sister, Mary Armstrong and her husband Buster Crandall of Tyngsboro; his aunt, Mary Kutny and her husband Steve of Salem, NH; his nephew, Timothy B. Sheehan, Jr. of Tewksbury; three nieces, Ashlee Kroll and her husband Jeff of Lowell, Kayla M. Sheehan and Meghan E. Sheehan both of Tewksbury; also many extended family members and friends.
Calling hours are Sunday, April 19, from 2-6 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. His funeral will be held Monday, April 20, at 9 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment will follow at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Tewksbury Police Athletic League and mailed to the Tewksbury Federal Credit Union, 752 Main St., Tewksbury, MA 01876.
