TEWKSBURY: Roger R. Ducharme, age 83, a resident of Tewksbury for over 40 years, died Tuesday, February 8, 2005 at the D’Youville Senior Care Center in Lowell.
He was the husband of Dorothy M. (Austin) Ducharme with whom he would have celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on December 25th.
Born in Boston on July 26, 1921, he was the son of the late Albert H. and Marie (Trepanier) Ducharme.
Mr. Ducharme was raised in South Lowell.
He attended St. Marie’s school and graduated from Lowell Vocational High School.
Prior to his retirement in 1984, he was employed as a carpenter by the Raytheon Corporation. In earlier years he worked as a finish carpenter for Jack Bent and Stanley Phalen in the Lexington and Concord area.
Mr. Ducharme was a charter member of the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C.. In addition, he was a member of the Massachusetts and New Hampshire Archeology Society and the Centerville Sportsman’s Club of Lowell.
Mr. Ducharme enjoyed many activities including playing golf, woodworking, music, building and playing mandolins and he was an avid collector of arrow heads.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 2 sons; Roger J. Ducharme and his wife Wendy (Wright) of Chelmsford and Marcel R. Ducharme and his wife Theresa (Cardone) of South Lawrence; 2 daughters; Jane D. Kirkland and her husband Donald N. Kirkland, Jr. of Derry, NH and Rachel D. Ducharme of Lowell; 3 grandchildren; Donald N. Kirkland, III, Dawn (Ducharme) Kelly and Kimberly Ducharme; 1 great granddaughter.
Mr. Ducharme was the father of the late Alvin G. Ducharme and brother of the late Robert J. Ducharme.
Calling hours Friday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the FARMER & DEE FUNERAL HOME, 16 LEE ST., TEWKSBURY, to be followed by a graveside service at the Tewksbury Cemetery at 12:30 p.m..
