Obituary

Kanhai, of Brockton, February 6, 2005, Kristy Sasha Kanhai, 25 years. Loving daughter of Antonio Jorge and Jackie Kanhai-Jorge of Brockton. Beloved niece of Camille and Kevin Winiarczyk of Arizona, Peter and Maureen Lall of New York, Keith, Dexter, Patricia, Sandra, Tamar and Garvin Kanhai all of Trinidad. “Special daughter” of Kathy and Ted Welte of Framingham. Special friend of Jennie Reis of Rockland.

Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Thursday at 10 am. Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 11 am. Burial in Coweeset Cemetery, Brockton. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8 pm. Donations in memory of Kristy may be made to the Endocrinology Clinic@ Children’s Hospital, 300 Longwood Ave., Boston, MA 02115.

Obituary

Kristy died Sunday evening at the Children’s Hospital in Boston. Born in Trinidad, daughter of Jacqueline Kanhai-Jorge and Antonio Jorge, she had been a Brockton resident for the past 17 years and she was a graduate of Cardinal Spellman High School Class of 1997 where she received the Channel Five A+ Student award. She was very active in the Crimson Chorus and drama club and had the lead role as Anne of Green Gables. She was a graduate of Regis College Class of 2001, where she received a BA in English and Communication. She was co-editor of Hemetera Newspaper and member of the Regis Glee Club and drama club. Kristy had worked briefly at PharMerica in Brockton and also worked part time as publishing editor.
She loved writing poetry, music and was a trusted confidant to her friends. Despite her limitations with lung disease Kristy would want to be remembered for her deep faith and celebration of life and achievements. She enriched the lives of everyone she met.

She is survived her parents, Antonio Jorge and Jackie Kanhai-Jorge of Brockton, her aunts and uncles, Camille and Kevin Winiarczyk of Arizona, Peter and Maureen Lall of New York, Keith, Dexter, Patricia, Sandra, Tamar and Garvin Kanhai all of Trinidad. She was the “Special daughter” of Kathy and Ted Welte of Framingham and special friend of Jennie Reis of Rockland.
