Obituary

James Willis “Will” Cox, Jr., 32, of Tifton passed away Monday, April 13, 2015, at his residence. A celebration of Will’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 2015, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with Rev. Joe Brooks officiating. Mr. Cox will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, April 17, 2015, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Richard Young, Ben Wood, Heath Martin, Lee Pritchett, Jeremiah Stevens and Scott Jackson will serve as pallbearers.

Mr. Cox was born September 12, 1982 in Sylvester, the son of Beth Pope Young (Melvin Eugene Young) and James W. Cox, Sr., all of Tifton. He was a member of Gordy New Bethel Baptist Church in Sylvester. Mr. Cox was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, R. V. Pope.

He loved all outdoor activities, especially hunting and fishing. He graduated with honors from ABAC with an Associate Degree in Nursing in May 2007. His friendliness and kindness to all people is a tribute to the beauty of his heart and soul. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to have known him. His love for his mother, family and friends was unconditional.

In addition to his parents and step-father, Mr. Cox is survived by two sisters, Alicia Cox and Hannah Young, both of Tifton; a step-brother, Richard Young of Tifton; his maternal grandmother, Nettie Mae Pope of Sylvester; and his paternal grandparents, Reba and Larry Brooks of Brookfield.
