Obituary

Margaret Anne Cannon of Gales Ferry, Connecticut, passed away peacefully at home on Friday after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Margaret's strength, humor, and love of life will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Margaret was born in South Bend, Indiana, on May 14th, 1944, and graduated from Central Catholic High School in Lafayette, Indiana.

Margaret received a degree in Early Childhood Education from Three Rivers College in Connecticut. For many years Margaret was actively involved in the Ledyard public school system as a teacher and volunteer.

Margaret is survived by her husband, Jack, and daughter, Kathleen, of Gales Ferry, Connecticut. She is also survived by her sister Miriam (Robert) Walters and brothers Ed (Michelle) Hickner, Bernard Hickner, Jerome (Betty) Hickner, and Steve (Katie) Hickner, all of Lafayette, Indiana. Margaret is also survived by her sisters-in-law Jeanne (Tom) Eder and Margaret Warczak, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Margaret’s family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Sunday from 3-5pm. Her funeral service and burial will be on Wednesday in Indiana.

Memorial donations in Margaret's name may be made to the ECHO Cancer Foundation at Backus Hospital, 330 Washington Street, Suite 220, Norwich, CT 06360.
