SPRINGFIELD – Fred Mikolaj Sacuta, 88, of the Hungry Hill section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2015. He passed into Eternal Life at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Poland on February 8, 1927 a beloved son of the late Konstantin Sacuta and Marta (Tokarczuk) Sacuta. He immigrated to the United States in 1949 and settled in Springfield after surviving a World War II Labor Camp in Germany for over seven years. He was a tailor by trade and owned and operated Fred’s Tailor Shop on Main Street in Springfield. His tailor shop was near the PVTA Bus Terminal and he repaired many cloth bus seats over the years for them. Subsequently, he worked for the PVTA as a bus driver. Fred was a longtime member of the YMCA in Springfield. Most of all, he was a kind and gentle man who was always cheerful and ready to assist his family and his many friends with whatever they needed. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his loving brother, Michael Sacuta who was Called Home on September 23, 2006; and his loving brother-in-law, Michael Kulaga who was Called Home on April 20, 1992. He leaves his two loving sisters, Lidia Kulaga of Springfield and Maria Stolarz and her husband, Richard, of Ellington, CT; his two beloved nephews, John M. Kulaga and his wife, Allison, of Southwick and Michael A. Kulaga, Jr. of Springfield; his four beloved nieces, Mary Ann Gambacorta and her husband, Vincent, and Debra J. Snow and her husband, Michael, all of Ellington, CT, Diane M. Stolarz of South Kingstown, RI and Elizabeth L. Stolarz of East Windsor, CT; his three cherished grandnephews, Jared Kulaga, Kevin Gambacorta and his wife, Sarah, and Samuel Wysocki; his four cherished grandnieces, Kristen Kulaga, Lauren Sealander and her husband, Eric, Kimberly Gambacorta and Natalie Snow; his two cherished great-grandnephews, Kolton and Kody Gambacorta; and his cherished great-grandniece, Tyla Gambacorta. His Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday morning, April 15, 2015 at 10 a.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (the funeral home will open at 9 a.m.), with the Reverend Michael Korolev, Pastor of Saints Peter and Paul Orthodox Church in Springfield, officiating. His burial will follow the service at Oak Grove Cemetery, 426 Bay Street, Springfield, MA 01109. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. His family has requested that memorial donations be made in his memory to Saints Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, PO Box 2843, Springfield, MA 01101-2843.
