Obituary

WORCESTER___Aldona “Stel” Desavage, 77, of 583 Cambridge St., died Wednesday February 2 in UMASS Memorial Medical Center, 55 Lake Ave. North.

She leaves a brother, James Desavage of Worcester; three sisters, Anna Sliwoski of Worcester; Beatrice Wiwatowski of Worcester with whom she lived and Virginia Laskowski of Eastham; nephews, nieces, grand nephews and grand nieces. She was predeceased by five brothers and four sisters, Adolph, Joseph, John, Stephen, Michael, Helen, Julia, Mary and Irene. She was born in Worcester, daughter of John and Anna (Zuromski) Desavage.

Miss Desavage worked several years for the Sisters of St. Casimir at Villa Joseph Maria in Pennsylvania. Previously, she worked for Stevens Sportswear Co.

Aldona was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and was a member of its Women’s Guild and an avid parish bingo worker and bingo player. She once played for American Steel & Wire Co., in one of the first women’s softball leagues. She was also on the Herbies bowling team.

The funeral will be held on Saturday February 5 from HENRY – DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 600 Cambridge St. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday February 4 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
