Sandra Faye Mixon Smith, 69, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Monday, April 6, 2015, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Dr. Lloyd Stembridge and the Rev. Kenny Croft officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, from 6 to 8, at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Smith was born December 8, 1945, in Ocilla, Georgia, to the late Curtis and Elma Tucker Mixon. She lived in Ben Hill County all of her life and was a former machine operator for Modern Fibers. Mrs. Smith loved to work in her yards and won “Beauty Spot of the Month” for 2 years in a row. She was a member of Arbor Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years: Wayne E. Smith of Fitzgerald; a son: Curt Smith of St. Petersburg, Florida; a grandchild: Travis & Dana Shinholster of Monroeville, Alabama; great grandchild: Jacolby Shinholster and a brother: Wayne Mixon of Fitzgerald. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son: Lee Shinholster and three brothers: Bobby Mixon, Jerry Mixon and Herman Mixon.
