Obituary

SALEM – David G. Slaney, 85, of Revere, died Saturday, April 4, 2015 at the VA Medical Center, Brockton, following a short illness and with family by his side.

Born and raised in Gloucester, he was the son of the late Gregory and Annie (Tobin) Slaney.

An Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict, he attained the rank of Airman First Class.

Prior to his retirement in the mid 1990’s, he worked in the construction industry as a member of the Mass Laborers Union.

David was a Life Member of the Benevolent Order of Elks, Lodge 1171 in Revere

David lived in Lynn and Revere for the past 50 years and spent his entire life living near the ocean. He could always be seen walking the beach in Revere and taking his children on trips to Boston.

David spent most of his winter months in St Petersburg Florida. He also loved watching football (the New England Patriots) and the Kentucky Derby

Family was most important in David’s life. He will be greatly missed by both his family and friends

He is survived by 4 daughters, Dawn Slaney Rothman of Anchorage, Alaska, Lynda Slaney Chansky of Worcester, Christina Slaney Cloutier of Amesbury, Lisa Slaney of Lynn, one son, Mark Slaney of Roswell, Georgia, one brother, Joseph Slaney of Beverly, 13 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren. He was predeceased by two sisters, Rita Slaney Fennell, Mildred Slaney, and two brothers, Andrew Slaney and Gregory Slaney.

His funeral service will be held Thursday, April 9, 2015 at 11 am in the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 4 to 7 PM.
